How to Boost Your Car's Efficiency
Though gasoline prices have gone down some since 2008, there is always a great possibility of another increase. While we hope this doesn't occur anytime soon, there is nothing wrong with saving even more money by making our car more efficient. Just by incorporating a little change in habits can save some bucks!
- Turn idling engine off
- Keep tires properly inflated
- Coast to a stop, or red light, as opposed to slamming the breaks
- Purchase gas during the coolest part of the day when gasoline is at its densest
- Combine errands. This will also save time from making unnecessary trips to the store, etc.
- Drive light: Avoid loading trunk, or back seat, down with "stuff"
- Tightly cap the gas tank. (America loses 147 million gallons of gas annually to vaporization, from loosely tank caps)
Changing a few habits, will not only save money, but will make a positive impact on the environment.

The New Super Duty Hero for 2011
2011 Ford Super Duty
Motor Trend calls it "The Strong Silent Type", when talking about the New Power Stroke Diesel on the all new 2011 Ford Super Duty Series. The many improvements reflect not only Ford's innovation, but what you want.
For starters, the improved fuel economy is surely due to the all new 6.2L V8 that replaces the 5.4. It puts out 385-Horsepower, and 405 in Torque increases fuel efficiency by 15%. The 5th-wheel towing maxes out just under 16,000lbs, and hauling is maxed at just over 6500lbs. The 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel engine's fuel economy is 18% better, with 390hp, 735lb ft on torque, 5th-wheel towing maxes at just under 25,000lbs, and hauling just over 5500lbs.
With the only 5th-wheel hitch offered, the sway control is unmatched along with the electronic locking rear differential, hill launch assist, and hill descent control. See for yourself!
I have had the pleasure of driving the 2010, but I'm eager to give the 2011 a spin now to experience the quiet and stability that has been unheard of. Ford has taken the Super Duty to another level.

Keeping Auto Insurance Low with a Teen Driver
Getting a drivers license is one of the most exciting times for a teenager. Parents are anxious for many reasons during this time. Adding a new teen driver to the household policy can increase insurance costs dramatically, not to mention the ongoing concern for safety. Unfortunately, car accidents are the leading cause of teenage deaths. In 2008 AAA found that teen auto accidents costs consumers more than $34 billion. While keeping your kid safe, what do you do to keep premiums cheap?
- Multi-Policy Discount: Having your homeowners, and auto policies under the same umbrella can bring some savings. With most insurance companies, the longer you are a policy holder, the better you rates can be.
- Good Grades: If your student is getting good grades, you may be able to catch a break on your insurance rates. Check with your insurance company to find out if they offer a discount for having good grades.
- Liability Only: If the household hooptie is the designated vehicle for your teenager, consider a liability only policy. When he value of an insured vehicle is minimal, liability insures the other party is covered if anything happens.
- Higher Deductible: Raising comp/coll from $500 to $1000 will substantially decrease change your your premiums.
Other things to consider are discounts for safety features, and going green. In addition, encouraging safe driving habits is vital to keep the cost of auto insurance low overall.

The 2011 Ford Mustang is Dressed to Impress
2011 Mustang GT
I first adopted the 1965 Mustang as my favorite car when I was around four years-old. I always knew when my older cousin was near, because I could hear that signature Mustang roar coming closer. Little did I know that the car I loved to ride in was a legacy, and today love for the Mustang continues to grow stronger world-wide .
The Ford Mustang is one of the most admired vehicles ever built. Enthusiasts world-wide come together periodically to celebrate their affinity for this beautiful vehicle. Though there have been signature variations such as the Boss, Shelby, and the Foose, the appeal has remained.
The new 2011 Mustang will makes its debut to the showrooms for all to see this summer. There is no doubt it is a looker. What will please many is the advancements in fuel efficiency. The 5.0L V8 engine will deliver an estimated 412 horses and 25mpg on the highway. The new V6 3.7L 4V is estimated 305 horsepower and approximately 30 mpg highway. An 11:1 compression ratio will lessen combustion noise due to the improvements to the all aluminum. The all new 6-speed auto transmission is in addition to the standard new 6-speed manual. Supporting the noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) is the Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS). Also is the the new standard limited slip differential and rear stabilizer bar.
With various enhancements that will make you growl, including a few new colors, check the Ford Mustang here. It just keeps getting better.

Got Good Tires?
When do you believe it is time to buy new tires? Every year or two? Maybe you go according to a maintenance schedule, or by wear. The decision to get new rubber for your ride can vary. If you purchase a used vehicle, more than likely the tires are used too. Would it be a good idea to purchase a set of tires then? Personally, when I have purchased a used vehicle that is one of the first things I do so I know where I stand for my own peace of mind. Then I try to go by what is recommended.
After purchasing a new set of tires it is recommended that you replace them in 6-10 years. The environment, weather conditions, wear, and chemical elements all factor in the life a tire. Maintaining even wear by getting regular tire balancing, and rotations are important for stability. Driving on tires that are in poor shape can affect the performance of your vehicle.
To make life a little easier, be sure to check the manufacturers maintenance recommendations for the type of tire you purchase. Happy driving!

How to Endure Tests and Trials of Customer Service
Customer challenges are inevitable in any business. The more you work at meeting the needs of the consumer something is bound to interfere. But there is no reason to become discouraged in your efforts. What makes a difference is when you are addressing issues and making a difference that is measurable. At the dealership, your customer is yours top priority. That's it! Inquiries are made, requests have to be filled, and problems must be resolved. Here are a few ways to make a positive impact on the service you provide to your customers.
- Involve your customers: When there is a problem, don't just tell your customer "I'll take care of it"...engage them by making them a part of the solution.
- Inquire: Ask the customer probing questions. Be clear, but remain professional and polite. Find out what he, or she wants
- Don't take it personal: Problems are not directed at you, just aimed in your direction
- Remain open minded: Be willing to be embrace more than one solution to an issue: One size does not fit all
- Chart changes and progress: Post it (to staff), and talk about it as a reminder you are working to make things right
- Stay focused: Work at it until there is a resolution!
These are just a few of many suggestions in the world of customer service. This area of business is constantly evolving. As it changes, it is important to adapt according to the needs of your customer base. Fiesta is Coming with A Bang
The more I check out the new Ford Fiesta for 2011, I am truly impressed. For those of you that remember the original Ford Fiesta "back in the day", it was nothing extravagant just a standard compact vehicle. Since I'm tall, there was not much thought put into it. Well I must admit things are looking different.
This summer the 2011 Ford Fiesta will arrive in the United States. It is already getting great reviews, and I am not surprised. This ride is not arriving on the scene shy. It's definitely a looker appealing to generation-x, raising the brow of baby-boomers, and many in between. But it is more than just the looks that is causing a stir.
Projected best in its class for fuel economy, you will agree that 30city-40hwy is superb. The six speed auto-transmission has plenty of horse power to keep moving, while handling well. Fiesta has already been put to the test with over a million miles on the road, so no stone has been left unturned for the anticipated debut.
When it comes to safety, Ford is the leading innovator putting it at the top of the priority list. The only subcompact in its class to have seven airbags, that includes a standard driver's knee airbag, and side curtain airbags. It provides plenty of room for essentials of any lifestyle, and the best in technology with push-button start, available SYNC, and LCD display. The Fiesta comes in a variety of colors, and several choices of interior. Hanging with the big dogs, this new subcompact is no puppy.

How To Make Sure You Have Enough Auto Coverage
Okay, we all know that automobile insurance is a requirement. It should be. If a driver cannot carry a policy he, or she, should not be behind the wheel. It's that simple. But I am not debating the issue. The fact is many drivers are uncertain of how much insurance is sufficient. Then there are drivers that carry a policy and may think that whatever amount they carry should take care of any claims . Well, it is not that cut and dry. Automobile policy coverage varies to suit the needs of the policy holder. For a policy holder that does minimal driving he, or she, may be more comfortable with a policy that has a higher deductible, and average limits. A daily commuter, in a metropolitan city, may be better off with higher policy limits and a low deductible. This policy provides enough coverage in the instance of an unforeseen event that results in property damage, and injuries. The limit amounts of the policy is the maximum that is paid for damages and medical expenses. Anything above the policy limit becomes an out-of-pocket expense.
What is Liability Coverage?
For various reasons, some drivers opt to carry a policy of liability to cover the costs of damages, and injuries, to other parties. This type of coverage does not cover the person holding the policy. The policy limits are the maximum amounts that will be paid out. Again, anything beyond these amounts becomes an out-of-pocket expense.
How to get the Best Coverage?
There are different ways to shop for auto-insurance that is convenient. You can go online for a quote. After providing the requested information, usually within 24 hours, an independent broker, or agency, licensed in the state you live in will contact you to answer any questions and give the details of what he, or she, is offering. You can also contact local independent brokers, and agencies, for a quote. Many agencies that offer several product lines, such as home owners, or renters, insurance provide discounts for multiple policies.

The 2010 Transit Connect Is Getting Good Marks
Probably the most practical vehicle I have seen in a long time is the 2010 Ford Transit Connect. I am impressed with the visual European flavor. It breaks away from the norm that has a tendency to debut as upgraded carbon copies more often than not in the automotive world. What is even better of this stand alone star is that it is the perfect vehicle solution for the small business.
Equipped with solutions for cargo management, a florist, or office cleaning business would have plenty of drawer units, flexible shelving, and cargo dividers. The independent electrician will have a place for everything with a rooftop ladder rack, bins, and utility carriers.
Able to seat up to five people and plenty of cargo space, the Transit Connect is the perfect choice when upgrading a transportation fleet. This economy sized vehicle has a low clearance, dual front and side airbags, dual sliding doors, and side and rear panels. The available in-dash computer allows you to be your most productive. The hands-free calling feature is a part of the Ford Work Solutions where you can work remotely and track progress.
The 4-speed auto transmission and the 2.0L I-4 engine, multi-port fuel injection makes the Transit Connect efficient on fuel, getting 25mpg on the highway. Having a mobile office never has been this good.

Are You At A Sales Career Crossroads?

Some individuals know they are born to be in sales. They are bursting at the seams with a winning personality, motivation, and creativity. Many of them make the energizer bunny look like he is slacking in some areas. Sales professionals in numerous industries can tell you that his, or her, sales career just sort of "happened". With no rhyme or reason, they are in it to win and everything flows.
No matter how you got into the sales game, you know that no two days are the same. Whether you believe you were born to sell, or have incorporated it, frustration can come with the territory. You cannot force a product onto a consumer, nor should you try. Treat each customer with the same enthusiasm. One thing that sometimes gets overlooked is value. Some people think that value is built in to the sales process, but this is not true. To offer value you have to be giving in your pursuits, and expect nothing. The customer is what matters and he, or she, should come always come out on top. Aren't they the reason why you continue to do what you do?

Another First In Safety for Ford

Since 1955, Ford has been the leader in safety innovation. After being the first automaker to offer seat belts, and start air-bag research, you should not be surprised that Ford will be the first to market inflatable seat belts for rear passenger protection. The combination of these technologies offer superior protection in the event of a crash by expanding on impact to decrease the risk of injury. Until now, the susceptibility of back seat passengers sustaining injury has been high.
The new seat belt, that will debut in the Next Generation Explorer, is more comfortable. Hopefully this will encourage more back seat passengers to wear it, increasing the number of passengers that currently wear them from 60%. The majority of these passengers are children and the elderly.
To learn more about this technology, and Ford's safety timeline visit The Ford Story.

Why Should You Test Drive Before Buying?

Getting a new set of wheels is always exciting. Whether you are upgrading, replacing, or driving your very own car for the first time you just can't wait to hit the road. While most people kick the tires before making that final decision, there are actually those that may not think a test drive is necessary.
Customer satisfaction should be the number one concern of the seller, and buyer, when making such a major purchase. There are so many reasons to test drive a car, and they differ depending on the individual. The following is a short list to consider, if you don't have one already. If you do not see a reason listed here and believe it is important, please be sure to share it by leaving a comment. Thanks for stopping by!
- check alignment
- check performance
- check the brakes
- comfort and feel
- meets your overall expectations for value

Hands Free Talk and Text - SYNC pt. 1
Wouldn't it be great if you car could allow you to talk, text, and use a navigational system hands free? Now it's possible, and much more, with SYNC. This connectivity system is available in select Ford and Mercury 2010 models, and all Lincoln 2010 models. Over the next few post I will be sharing some of the features of SYNC with you so that you can get familiar, just in case you have not heard about it.
Most of us have used our cell when the call was not that important. No matter how skilled a driver you are, your attention is divided when you have your phone in your hand. SYNC allows you to make calls with the sound of your voice. And just in case you are getting in of your vehicle while on the phone, the SYNC system automatically switches over so you can be hands free to continue your call.
Texting is one of the most controversial issues when it comes to safe driving. When you have SYNC, your incoming text messages are read to you. And if you need to send a text, just tell your SYNC. It's that simple! To learn more about SYNC, visit www.syncmyride.com.
Rupert Comes to Visit When Mom Takes Delivery

You may be the type of individual that swears by the make of your car. Georgette was the same way. Her last four vehicles were Toyota's. But after the last one was totaled in an accident it was time to get a new one. There was no doubt that she would get another Toyota, but in the meantime she had to drive the rental provided to her...a Ford Focus. After a short time, Georgette fell in love with the rental and wanted one of her own. Her mind was changed. She went online to check out the selection, and found Paul Harvey Ford was where she wanted to purchase her new Ford Focus. She sent an inquiry on 2/11 and received a prompt response from Sales Manager, Chuck Clemons. Chuck phoned her and they talked about her Ford experience and set up a convenient time for her to come in and take a look at the selection.
By Saturday 2/13, Georgette had made her decision. She came in the dealership to take delivery of her new 2010 Ford Focus, accompanied by her son Rupert. We wanted to show her off, but since she was a bit camera shy, Rupert agreed to take a few shots for us. What a great guy! It was a pleasure to meet him in person! We know that Georgette will be happy with her new ride, and want to thank her for allowing Paul Harvey Ford the opportunity to earn her business.

Driving and Texting Do Not Go Together
Think where you were about five years ago with cell phone technology, or before that. There was no issue with texting while driving. So why is it now? When you least expect it the person next to you is driving a bit strange, and out of sync with everyone else. You realize that he, or she, is texting! How rude, and mostly dangerous! It is not that serious...really. To read more on this controversial issue, the great folks at Driving Skills for Life have a great article, "Driving While Texting: Is It the New DWI? Check it out.

How To Get Winter Ready

The East Coast has been on the receiving end of old man winter's wrath. Still under an emergency, word is there is more on the way. Though not as bad, the Midwest is experiencing it's own wrestle mania with winter weather. During these episodes it is critical to keep your car in good health to get you where you need to be.
Before the onset of winter it is good to get your car's seasonal maintenance done on a regular schedule. If you have yet to get things done, now is better than not at all.
- a tune-up
- replace battery if needed
- make sure tires have enough tread, or replace them
A few simple things you can do to make your winter driving less stressful:
- replace regular windshield washer fluid with a de-icer formula
- never let your gas tank get too low, in cold weather an empty gas tank can cause your gas tank to freeze. When mine starts to approach a quarter-tank, it is time to "filler-up"
- keep a blanket, shovel, and jumper cables in the trunk...just in case, because you never know.
